Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

One of my goals would be to grow in my skills. My current practice and teacher tend to be more sporadic than routine so having a schedule and a teacher that knows where to push and challenge students would be a great experience for me. If granted this opportunity, I would be challenged a lot with self discipline but excited to see the amount of growth I could have with such a driven and musically gifted teacher. Another goal would be to make time to practice: I could make myself a goal that I have no screen time or books (I am a bookwork) 5-6 days a week until I have put it the 30-45 minutes of practice time on the piano. I would be able to see myself grow as a pianist by my level of ability at the end of lessons with Mrs. Gilles. I could also record myself at the beginning of summer and then compare my playing at the end of the summer. I would imagine my playing would be more advanced with the amount of time needed for practice as well as weekly lessons. I have several music books that are too challenging for me right now, so I also could try them again after I have had more practice and teaching with Mrs. Gilles.

Measurable Outcome(s)

I was introduced to scratchboard, which I have never done before. Michele showed me how to try different tools to create a variety of textures. I learned how to play with the contrasting light and shadows. With the watercolor I was able to work on the details and quick sketches. We worked with a limited color palette to create various hues for painting and using shadows. At the conclusion of my time with Michele, I feel I have grown more confident with both mediums. I intend to continue creating these types of artwork and look forward to applying these skills over the summer, working on some nature scenes or landscapes working from life; this time of the year is especially lovely to be outside and see the many inspirations around us.
