I want to become a better violin player, and have more experience in playing with an orchestra. Playing violin for a full week will help me play my normal songs better. I will be able to play all the notes at the camp concert, and be joyful and happy while I am doing it.
During my 12 lessons we spent a lot of time on music theory. My level of understanding in theory was lower than it should have been for my ability of playing piano, but I am quite proud of how much I learned and advanced over the summer, and Mrs. Gilles is pushing me to close that gap. It was definitely a change to work with a new teacher. I felt very challenged but in a good way. When you have to work hard to earn honest praise, it is more satisfying when you do well. She had me really focus on dynamics and rhythm. She pushed me to try different styles of music. She fine tuned my distance when sitting at the piano, and she helped me with other small but important habits that I needed to work on.
