Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Actors will have more variety and opportunity to play different roles. Hmong (Hmoob) Writer Interns will have time and quality guidance in improving their writing skills to tell their family stories. Audience will see new work about Laura Ingalls Wilder and can become repeat customers for the three-year cycle. Actors and writers will have a live and Facebook audience to display their work. Regional residents will have deeper awareness of the similarities and differences in the pioneer journey of Hmong and 1880 pioneers. Through the plays and stories, they will see how we are all quite similar in basic wants and needs. They will understand that Laura's story is told through the eyes of a child and our ancestors stories were more complex and often more difficult in the conflicts with nature, others and one's own beliefs. We will be documenting hours, logs of communication and archival copies of scripts, critiques, emails and Zoom contacts. We will look for three completed scripts and Hmong Family Stories. We will look for Facebook Analytics indicating at least 2K views, 500 engagements and 100 comments about each production. We will use audience and cast surveys to include attitudes on culture. To encourage response, the WPC will offer copies of works by Anderson and Hill to four people who respond by a random drawing. We can use the 2021 audience as a pretest group. post-test positive comments and "I didn't know that before" responses will indicate progress. Also, do they want to see more of this type of work.

Measurable Outcome(s)

We have three completed scripts, five new songs, and at least one Hmong ?pioneer? story. The young Hmong students aware that the cultural memories are slipping away along with the language, and some are taking on the challenge of committing those events to audio, video and written records. For the scripts, balance between the chronology of reality and the fancy of fiction peppered with the expectations of books and TV fans has kept us hunting, thinking, and rearranging. We were able to use 28 actors in the read throughs of the scripts, so we have added opportunities. Now that we have scripts in hand, comments and suggestions for change, and a path with a few potholes to be negotiated, we have the potential to grow and change and attract new audiences. We are ready to begin preparations to stage Year Two of the Wilder Trilogy.
