ACHF Arts Access
We hope to improve accessibility and raise participation of underserved communities. As more feel welcomed and included, we hope their involvement will deepen as volunteers, participants, board members and creators of new arts activities. This creative process is an avenue toward joyfully exploring overt community divisiveness around LGBTQIA2S+ rights and systemic barriers to addressing racism, amplifying stories from often unheard voices, and providing equitable space to discuss and examine our lives together. It is an opportunity to get to know our neighbors, interact with others we may not normally have a chance to meet and work hand in hand with them. Artists guide the activity by giving us the tools we need to create new and exciting things. While we continue to collect statistics around attendance and demographics at each in-person event we also offer a customized survey to glean more focused perspective from our audience. Along with comments/suggestions around our accessibility additions we hope statistics reflect a more diverse representation of our community. We make surveys available onsite and online to encourage open, anonymous comments and suggestions. We also gather feedback from the artists as part of our production process. Mostly verbal and in-person conversations, these debriefs give equal standing and equal voice to all participants in the production process.
