ACHF Arts Access
Because Benson Schools does not offer many opportunities in the field of theater this is often the only opportunity our youth have to gain experience acting and singing on stage. Some students don't know if they are going to enjoy this type of experience and our Children's Theater give them the opportunity to experience what theater is in a small, safe, setting. If they try out and are not comfortable in a solo experience, they have the opportunity to be part of a small group ensemble. Our goals for the students are for them to have fun, try something new, develop social skills by being part of a community, build confidence on stage, strengthen communication skills through public speaking, and learn how to channel empathy. We plan to measure these changes through small group discussions, a before and after surveys, journaling, and daily observations and comments from the students. Grace is also mindful of creating intentional opportunities for each student to succeed. This will be done daily based off of observations and comments heard while interacting with the students. These would be documented through the journal.
