ACHF Arts Access
This project will, firstly, impact the artists creating the panels by growing their artistic (painting) practice and giving them a broad community audience through social media, local school districts, and in person at the Healthy Earth, Healthy Kids event. Additionally, this project will impact area third graders by directly engaging them in art. Finally, this project will provide continued conversation through the display of this work at the first annual Healthy Earth, Healthy Kids event and future community functions. There is increasing reporting about "ecoanxiety" and "climate anxiety" both in adults and children; this project is important to provide a local avenue for community members to engage in art as a means of helping to process these feelings. Measures of success will include the professional painting of four panels, engagement of at least 1,000 community members with the project through social media posts highlighting the panel designs and artists, participation of an additional 545 third grade students at ACGC, KMS, NLS, and Willmar public school districts, resulting in at least 100 coloring contest submissions, engagement of at least 200 attendees at the Eco Fair through coloring booth, and at least 200 surveys received from event attendees, with at lease 60% reporting conversation generated because of the panels.
