ACHF Arts Education
We want fiddling and traditional music to once again be embedded as a shared community experience; people gathering informally to play for themselves, at a community gatherings or for a dance. We need to provide the intentional support to entice and train new fiddlers. Special workshops will give them new skills and will also heighten their identity as musicians. We will also develop the capacity for rhythm accompaniment by recruiting at least 4 new guitarists, 6 new mandolin players and 6 bass players. We will provide resources on chording accompaniment and group practice opportunities and the opportunity to jam at "Fiddle and Fun" activities. Sunburg will become a defacto gathering place for informal fiddling and traditional music. We will track the number of new participants, audience members, and performance opportunities, the increase in participants playing rhythm accompaniment, and evaluate skills in notation reading, chord progressions, and strum patterns.
