Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The goal of North Shorror is to create an extraordinary space to build and deepen community connections. In 2024, we want to grow on the exciting success of our first year by accepting even more submissions and expanding the scale and execution level of the Haunted Gallery. To this end ? and with the financial support of the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council ? we would like to offer stipends to participating artists in 2024 to create immersive art experiences. Not only would monetary consideration for artists make North Shorror more attractive to prospective entrants, it would address the issues of equity around unpaid creative work and help incubate the talent of less established artists accepted to the exhibition. We have already removed a major cost barrier for submission by foregoing any kind of submission fee. While these steps are necessary for inclusion, it means support from sources like donations and grants are essential for the continued operation of North Shorror. North Shorror 2024 will be successful if: - Artists will receive a stipend to create immersive art experiences. - More artists submit art to be on display at the Haunted Art Gallery (28 in 2023). - The opening event has higher attendance than in 2023 (200 in 2023). - More press coverage than in 2023 (1 media story in 2023). - More community members participate in the ?open studio? project. The 2023 participatory art project was focused on children. We aim to recruit community partners (e.g., UMD Art Department and Zeitgeist) to support the development of a broader ?open studio? concept.
