Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Our goal is to stage concerts featuring under-represented artists that will benefit both the artist and the music center by expanding audiences. 1) Expand diversity of performers at SHMC with two concerts featuring six musical acts from under-represented music genres during the 1-year grant period. 2) Increase the diversity of participants by 30% in SHMC from a predominately white, older aged participant group, to a younger and more diverse mix of attendees during the 1-year grant period. 3) Enhance the music portfolios of under-represented artists through the live stream recording on SHMC YouTube page with a goal of 450 views per concert and encouragement for the artists to share recordings with other concert venues to help them get more paying gigs. Board member Zane Bail will oversee program evaluation efforts. Success will be measured through audience participation of 100-150 ticket holders and 450 live stream views per event. We will ask for a show of hands for first-time visitors. We will have 3 volunteers conduct a demographic observation of audience make-up during at least 6 concerts in the coming year, including the 2 proposed music festivals to assess demographic shifts. The participant goal of 100-150 will help SHMC adequately compensate the musicians participating in the event and generate revenue to cover overhead costs and professional production staff. We will also measure success from feedback from the artists and invite in-person attendees to complete a feedback card. We will check-in with festival artists within 2 months of the show to see how they are using the YouTube recording to attract new gigs. The long-term goal is to continue to provide under-represented artists and their followers with a top-notch performance venue and provide the music community exposure to new genres
