ACHF Cultural Heritage
Because of the ever-evolving community we have here in Appleton, many community members may not know that the streets are named after men from Appleton who lost their lives in the wars. What better way to tell their story than to have a beautiful portrait painted of each service man and on display in a public place. The impact it will have on many who view it as they realize these were young men who left their families and did not return, will be immeasurable. Community members who have seen the preliminary drawings are all 100% behind it. This collaboration between Preserve Appleton's Heritage and the City of Appleton will show our willingness and togetherness for creating something beautiful for the community. We will have two opportunities for the community to be able to view the project and give us their feedback. The first one will take place as a open studio viewing as we are working on the project. (Late November) The public will be invited to come see the progress as Katia is painting the portraits at Appleton Art and Culture. The second time will be the viewing of the art in the outdoor space they will occupy. (Spring) At both of these viewings, we will have surveys printed and ask questions of the community to gather information to determine the success of the project
