ACHF Arts Access
Public benches will give access to the arts just because of their use and visibility. It will give a new and unusual format for artists to showcase their art as well as give the public a new way to enjoy it. The subject matter of the artwork using historic and cultural events will bring history to the public in a new way. Results will be determined by public feedback and interviews with the public during the special events.
The City increased their financial support to provide the additional funds for three more benches for a total of 18. This is a huge gesture showing arts are important. We have received feedback that community members' additional benches, of another material and style, will be done in a similar fashion in the future. We have community groups arranging tours to view all the benches. Working with artists to portray the unique history of Granite Falls was a great inspiration and resulted in a wide variety of events, people, places and experiences. The benches are a draw to the community and enhance the existing public art of the murals and mosaics along the riverwalk.
