Veterans on the Lake Resort
Veterans on the Lake Resort, a not-for-profit resort, will provide a barrier-free setting for a memorable outdoor recreation experience for disabled persons, with priority to disabled veterans, veterans, their families, friends and supporters; designed with veterans in mind, recognizing what they have contributed to and sacrificed for our nation; ensuring that they can fully participate in Minnesota's outdoor cultural heritage.
Projects:
Well drilling to provide larger reservoir of water to meet peak demand
ADA-compliant pool lift to improve safety and pool accessibility for disabled visitors
Septic tank and drain field replacement to prevent drinking water contamination and improve drinking water safety
Cabin restoration to improve insulation and energy efficiency of cabins to better serve our visitors
Mobility aids-to purchase gently used golf carts to replace aging golf carts to enable disabled visitors to use the entire resort
To replace air conditioning units to ensure comfort and safety of visitors with health issues
Renovated guest facilities for increased guest satisfaction, comfort and safety. Increased well water supply to meet peak demand and drinking water safety, replaced pool lift to meet federal ADA standards for guests in wheelchairs, replaced septic systems to meet county specifications, improved energy efficiency of cabins by increasing attic insulation and replacing leaking roofs, purchased used golf carts for transporting guests with mobility issues, replaced air conditioning units for guest comfort and safety.
Volunteer labor to install roofs. Staff labor (not paid by grant) to install roofs and air conditioners. Private donations to supplement grant funds used to purchase used golf carts.
