Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Perceived or real barriers to participation are addressed. More Minnesotans are able to participate in the arts.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Our major site partner was Urban Ventures, a neighborhood organization serving low-income children and families of color. Many lower income families have less access to art, especially at the community-wide scale that we conceived for our project. Our goal was to invite their program participants, as well as other families in the Midtown neighborhood, to activate Kix Field (owned by Urban Ventures) and break down barriers to experience a large-scale art project in the neighborhood, transforming the way they view the field and the Midtown Greenway, and to participating in the arts. We were prepared to document and measure participation via video and questionnaires at the event. However, as noted, due to the rain storm, very few people attended the project and for safety reasons (i.e., lightning) it was not activated/electrified. We intend to re-stage the project on August 2, 2014, in partnership with Urban Ventures, and are hopeful that many neighborhood families will attend. 2: Take the Field was intended to involve more Minnesotans in the arts, by transforming an athletic field into a work of art. We were expecting more than 1,500 people to attend the project, with a focus on local families from the Midtown neighborhood.
