Art Project Grant
ACHF Arts Access
1. To increase attendance by the public (volunteers will count the number of people who come to the Courthouse Square during the hours of 9 am to 11 am)(last year it rained for most of the morning which cut down attendance); hope for nicer weather; arrangement for rainy day have been made. 2. To increase the number of artists participating (number down last year because of competition with another event) Goal this year is to encourage involvement by more artists by making individual contact with them to invite them. 3. Improve the food - by structuring the event so that the Committee approves the menu to assure a better variety of food being served 4. To improve the delivery of the music - by creating a new space and structure for musical performances that will allow all the artists to hear the music without being over bearing. Also will create the music performance area in a more central area to better distribute the public to the artists. 5. To create a better awareness and knowledge of the event by the public.1. Each participating artist will be given a written evaluation tool and provided with a self-addressed stamped envelope. During the last hour of the show, staff will visit each booth and remind the artist to turn them in or mail them back. 2. Public evaluation information will be gathered by volunteers. During the hours of 9 am until 11 am...we will work with students from the High School Arts Class to individually ask the public five questions. The questions will be very simple and will focus on information the Committee needs to make informed decisions about growing the event. The questions for the public will be: a. How did you hear about Art Rocks? (newspaper, radio, word of mouth, television or other) b. Does the event have adequate public space (for sitting and meeting?) (yes - no) c. What do you think of the food selection? (below average/average/above average) d. Was the event easy to find? (Yes/No) Was it easy to park? (Yes/No) e. Do you have any comments about ART ROCKS you would like to share?
All artists were given a written evaluation form to fill out before they left. A stamped, self-addressed envelope was also provided should the artists not have time to complete the survey. Staff for Art Rocks conducted 47 interviews with public during the day asking questions about the event, suggestions for improvement, and other things they would like to see. Musicians who performed during the day were also asked to provided comments and suggestions. The Art Rocks Committee met following the event to review the documents and make determination about the event.
