Artist Initiative
ACHF Arts Access
Minnesota artists are able to expand or further develop their artistic abilities through varied learning opportunities. More Minnesotans are able to engage in or with the work of Minnesota artists.
During the grant period I expanded my artistic abilities into a new arena, glass sculpture, learning about the types of glass materials available, the variety of ways I can use them in my art, how to manipulate them, the many variations in lighting them, the possibilities and disadvantages of LED bulbs. I have designed and constructed several works (see photos) and found that I can work and express my art ideas with these materials. 2: Project outcome 2, Project outcome C: During the grant period, I exhibited this work in two Open Studios, to about 500 people each, and to two other tours of my studio, totaling about 50 people. As I mentioned in the 'Impact' section above, I had an exhibit of the glass sculpture in September of 2012 at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Minneapolis, in an area that serves as a lobby for their theater, their art gallery, meetings, school tours, and their daytime activities and social events Since I was not there during a great deal of this activity, I have a hard time making any reasonably accurate estimates.
