Artist Initiative

As a writer, I extended my experience into writing a type of poem I have not attempted before. In doing so, I further developed my writing technique and my range as a poet. The visual artist I hired, Tiffany Besonen, had to solve a number of technical issues in the creation of the bowl sculptures, and in the inscription of the bowls. In answering these questions, she learned more about the properties of her materials and ways of using them that she will carry forward into other projects. The lighting designer and audio artist that I hired also learned many things that they will carry forward into other projects. I evaluated these outcomes through my own experience and interviewing the other artists involved regarding their experience with the project. 2: This grant was for the creation of the Incantation Bowls exhibit, and does not include its exhibition. Therefore, the current audience is much smaller than the eventual audience for the work once it begins traveling for display. I have had interest from Cedar Crest College in (Pennsylvania), Concordia College, Naropa University (Boulder, Colorado), and the Nemeth Art Center in Park Rapids, Minnesota for exhibiting the work. At this point, the audience has consisted of the attendees at the Artist's Talk given at The Nemeth Art Center in Park Rapids, (12 youth and 32 adults), as well as over 700 individual visitors to blog posts chronicling the project. Although the grant application has a space for projected electronic audience n umbers, this final report form does not, so I include that number here. I evaluated this outcome by counting audience members, both physically and electronically.
