Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Arts organizations build relationships with members of, or organizations that serve, groups that have traditionally been underserved by the arts or by the applicant organization. Real or perceived barriers to participation are identified and addressed. More Minnesotans are able to participate in the arts.

Measurable Outcome(s)

1) We achieved outcomes of building relationships, and directly working with, communities that have not had access to the arts in the form of eleven anti-gang-graffiti murals. 2) First we measured total number of square feet of murals painted, then we measured the number of different locales, and finally the diversity of the audiences. We gauged community reaction by direct communication during the extent of the project. We also gauge our success by the number of solicitations made by other building owners for future projects. 2: 1. We overcame the barrier to minorities participating in the arts by having minority youth take on design and conception of projects responsibilities. They initiated and developed real experience of authorship of aesthetic pieces. 2. We always measure numerically. We had three minority members of our team design group pieces. We also had two predominantly Hispanic 4th and 5th grade classes design and execute a 16'x70' mural.
