Project Details
Hicks will set up foundry equipment and purchase safety clothing, materials, and supplies to pour bronze for the purpose of creating artwork with metal. He will host two pours, inviting both the public and art students to attend.

Measurable Outcome(s)

I was able to set up and operate foundry equipment, make molds, melt metal, and pour bronze to successfully create artwork. I have become a leader in the Guild of Metalsmiths in the area of foundry and metal casting. My cast piece from the first pour was featured on the cover of "The Metalsmith" magazine. The amount I learned was incredible, ranging from understanding low pressure regulators to a gas fired burner to different bronze alloys.
