Preserving and Celebrating Minnesota's Agricultural History
To create a permanent, outdoor historical art sculpture, and honor the legacy of female contributors to agriculture in a new venue, "Women in Agriculture Day."
These amounts are appropriated to the commissioner of agriculture for grants to county agricultural societies to enhance arts access and education and to preserve and promote Minnesota's history and cultural heritage as embodied in its county fairs. The grants shall be in addition to the aid distributed to county agricultural societies under Minnesota Statutes, section 38.02. The commissioner shall award grants as follows: (1) $700,000 each year distributed in equal amounts to each of the state's county fairs to enhance arts access and education and to preserve and promote Minnesota's history and cultural heritage;
Distribute surveys during fair. Create powerpoint diary to document the beginning and final placement of sculpture.Survey of individuals involved with planning the fair regarding the quality of program and experiences.
Complete survey results can be requested from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. Comments were largely positive of the experiences and several requests to continue and expand offered programming.Powerpoint diary was completed.Over 50 attended the Women in Agriculture presentation.Fourteen story nook participants were available for conversations with fair attendees during the Women in Agriculture program. Three performing artists participated in the program.
