ACHF Arts Access ACHF Arts Education
A number of outcomes will come as a result of this project. 1. Children will add a new dimension to their reading development and will be able to come to have an appreciation of many forms of literature. 2. A foundation will be laid for students by this project to come to appreciate the arts in a new way and especially in the field of literature. 3. A confidence will be gained by the children in their ability to stand before others and express themselves in a new way. 4. A respect will be gained by their fellow classmates as they will see them in a new light. Instead of being quiet and shy children will come alive in expressing themselves. 5. The foundation for future oral presentations by the children will carry over for many years to come. The field of music for example is just one area when they sing they will have a new way of expressing themselves because Reader's Theater has helped them. 6. Better citizens of the state of Minnesota will be developed by this project. This project will be measured on the evaluations teachers give each child on how their oral reading is presented. Also, we will see how the core classes gain from this experience by asking the children to express in a written format how they see their experiences from this project. Another avenue will be the reading grades the children receive that will tell how what their reading level is. In introducing a new way to look at literature we will be enhancing their confidence to want to go further in their learning. For the gifted student, ReaderÆs Theater will allow them to reach new limits they have not tried before.
The children gave oral readings individually and in small groups to children from other classes. Also, they gave readings at the final program. These readings were the best evaluation tool to see if they had mastered the techniques of Reader Theater. Also
