Partners in Arts Participation
ACHF Arts Access
Partnerships are developed between social service organizations and arts organizations to better serve underserved communities. Social or human service organizations use arts to help achieve their service goals. Perceived or real barriers to participation are addressed. The participants’ reactions were evaluated in the group discussions both after the play and after Minnesota Family Investment Program staff met with the director and writer of the play, in one-on-one meeting with case managers, and on the Satisfaction Survey.
Minnesota Family Investment Program parenting program goals are to teach young mothers how to create with their children, develop their parenting skills, and help them see themselves as a part of the community by participating in activities outside the narrow world they live in. It is important for the young women to imagine themselves out of poverty and able to fully participate in the community. These are important goals that support the other goals of assisting the young women to complete their schooling, complete post secondary education, and emotionally and financially prepare to support themselves and their children. In this program, twelve young mothers and their sixteen children attended a production with The Children's Theater. 2: Minnesota Family Investment Program staff will continue to bring participants and their children to The Children's Theater as funding is available. It has always been a good experience and it is good for our very young mothers and their children to be connected to the community arts through The Children's Theater.
