County Fair Legacy Project
We will feature: Ag+Culture, Tiny School of Art, Heidi Jueb, blacksmith and pottery demonstrations, woodworking, felting, quilting, and blown glass.
Tiny School of Art is a rural mobile art school for young and old. Tiny School of Art brings art in all mediums to rural communities. The Tiny School of Art facilitates a community mural. Fairgoers are able to paint on the pre-drawn mural by Lily Brutger. The murals are than displayed throughout the county in art galleries. Tiny School of Art has drawing stations throughout the fair grounds for fairgoers to actively draw. Individuals are given a one-on-one experience with a professional artist. Tiny School of Art partnered with Raising a Farmer and the Morrison County Historical Society to create the theme of the mural of things, people and places that are important to Morrison County, bridging the urban/rural divide in the arts communities. In addition to the mural there will also be local artists demonstrating pottery, wool spinning, felting, woodworking and blacksmithing.
Germany Cloggers: Clogging is a truly American dance from that began in the Appalachian Mountains and now enjoys widespread popularity throughout the US and around the world.
Hay Bale Decorating Contest:
Bales are purchased and placed around the fairgrounds. Individuals, community members, 4-H, FFA clubs and local businesses sign up to decorate a hay bale. Fairgoers vote on their favorite bale. The winning bale wins a traveling trophy. This has been a positive activity creatively merging art and agriculture.
Emotion in Motion is a mobile paint room experience. They will bring 10x15 tent canvases and a non-toxic paint-like substance that is safe for all age children. Music plays while participants toss paint at their canvases using their body movements and movements of brushes. Canvases are able to be taken. Each piece is a one of a kind.
Red Letter Band & Family Band: During the shows they take time to explain the process of creating music from song writing, recording, audio and visual production. Red Letter Band focuses on inspiring others to use their talents by providing top quality entertainment and education. All musicians are local about 20 minutes from our fair.
For each activity we will have a volunteer take attendance, our fair is a free fair.
