Advisory Group Members and Qualifications

Christy Dickinson: Dickinson is a professional Minnesota artist whose studio, Anansi Studio, is on the west side of Saint Paul at the F-O-K Studios, near Harriet Island. In addition, she owns F-O-K Creatives LLC and leads events such as Saint Paul Art Crawl and First Fridays, in partnership with the developer and management company, to elevate the community of creatives, artists, and makers. Her work was recently selected for the exhibition "What Fierce Looks Like: Artists of the Women's Art Institute" at Form + Content Gallery in the North Loop, Minneapolis. She shares her paintings at art festivals across the state, Art-A-Whirl, and the Saint Paul Art Crawl. Her background includes more than 20 years directing programs across the Midwest region and nationally on behalf of the National Endowment for the Arts and piloting rural arts programs across three Midwestern communities supported by the Mellon Foundation. ; Anna Eveslage: Eveslage is a photographer, writer, and educator. She has more than fifteen years of experience as a working artist and more than nine years of experience as a university educator in the arts for a variety of institutions. Her work has been exhibited and published internationally and has received multiple awards and honors, including two Minnesota State Arts Board grants.; Casandra Garcia: Garcia grew up attending art programs designed for low-income and unhoused individuals. This experience sparked a lifelong love of the arts, which has allowed her to carry that passion into a career creating and teaching art to seniors and children and designing art programs for individuals seeking adaptive arts programs. Garcia is also a multimedia artist who uses found objects and discarded items to create textured canvases, sculptural pieces, and wearable art. She has been fortunate enough to have her art exhibited in local Minnesota galleries and participated in multiple art festivals.; Patrick Kinney: Kinney is the marketing director for the University of Minnesota Duluth's College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, a role he came to after careers in journalism, academia, and arts marketing. He holds a MA in English with a concentration in creative nonfiction from the University of Nebraska Omaha, where he also taught. For nine years, he directed the communications efforts for Film Streams, one of the country's most esteemed cinema organizations. After hours, he can be found scribbling poetry, slapping paint on canvas, or exploring the North Shore's natural and cultural wonders.; Katherine Lupton: Lupton is a professor of graphic design at the University of Wisconsin-Stout and a resident of Minneapolis. She has worked in design since 2010 for various clients and continues advising students regarding their art and design coursework and future career opportunities. Lupton has volunteered her time to Art Buddies and design portfolio events. She graduated from UW-Stout with a BFA in fine arts, concentrating in graphic design and minoring in applied photography, and a MFA in visual studies from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.; Glenn Terry: With a background as an architectural designer and construction manager, Terry discovered his sculpting skills via a commission for a life-size bronze statue of Justice. After a short atelier study stint, he added drawing and painting to his repertoire. For more than 35 years, Terry has been creating commissioned sculptures, murals, portraits, and work in most media. He has served on his local planning and zoning board for 27 years, performs on the Celtic harp that he built, sings in two choirs, captains a coed soccer team, and teaches in public and private schools.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Minnesotans will hear that when the powerful try to silence people, they still create. Sharing this art amplifies their voices and honors their value. Outcome will be evaluated by community members at this free concert held at New City Center that amplifies the voice of marginalized communities: racial/ethnic identities, socioeconomic statuses, gender and sexual identities, and religious beliefs.
