Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

As a result of this project at least 18 people, per class, will learn the traditional art of barn quilting, what they represent and the areas' traditions. This will encourage and foster our local communities to participate in using the barn quilts as a way to recognize one another and provide individual, as well as community stories about these same communities. Our groups focus is all about recognizing and carrying on the old traditions that could fade if we do not encourage and facilitate the same. Our plan is to host at least two classes, free of charge to the public, to teach this art. It will allow young adult and children to learn about and learn to create symbols of our rural traditions. The quilts that exist and are yet to be made tell stories about who makes them and why they're there. There is a driving route in Minnesota that has an index and captions about all the barn quilts that are submitted to this project. We are delighted to be able to keep this alive and expand it.
