Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Our before school drumline program would be open to all students in grades 5-12, not just percussionists, as all student musicians need to learn rhythm. Students would be able to bring these skills learned back to their regular instruments allowing them to grow as musicians faster. During regular band time, the director is tasked with teaching woodwinds, brass, and percussion all at the same time. Giving students the opportunity to work with Pete will supplement this by allowing for specific percussion instruction. The impact on students will transcend developing their musical skills and help them learn discipline and the benefits of working hard. This will help give a large group of students an outlet to express themselves in a positive and constructive manner. We will measure success in their playing abilities by tracking the curriculum used. Pete has his own method book that he uses with students which progresses from beginning to more difficult concepts. Their progress using this material will show what musical concepts they have mastered during the sessions.
