The media announcements and progress reports we put out on our grant project continued to keep the community engaged and excited about the investment in our historic main street. Sharing the progress with our supporters as the staff at LHB did a physical site visit garnered a lot of positive feedback and the community and alumni engaging with our organization to find out more, and share their ideas for future events in the gymnasium after the roof replacement.
As a result of these roof drawings being completed, we are now able to prepare our Request for Proposals for contractors qualified to complete our roof repairs. and work on our budget for the additional needs of heating, electrical, plumbing and finishing work for the 1939 wing. This grant has been a tremendous step in moving our project to the point of active construction which is when the greater community can see the visible effects of our years of planning and work, and will cement the project as a success and continue to allow us to be an inspiration to other similar efforts across the state. Our project planning the Jasper School rehabilitation. was featured this spring in the MinnPost magazine which brought more attention and support and over 60 attendees to our July open house tours and additional interest in volunteering with our organization, including more families with children. The community is excited to get the roof replaced and has been bringing us ideas of activites and events they want to see in the gymnasium, and we have groups beginning to use our smaller building (Bauman Hall) currently in the meantime.
