First and foremost, I hope to come out of this with a first draft of a new script. More importantly, I want to be more confident when I write independent characters with opposing motivations. Finally, of course, I hope this script will open more doors to receive potential funding to produce this or any number of my other scripts. I have a handful of pitching opportunities each year at big industry events such as the American Film Market, which takes place each year in October. The more scripts I have on-hand ready to go, the greater my chances are for one of them to get funded. Completing a first draft is always cause for celebration, and that will be no different here. An important part of my process is sending my work to fellow screenwriters and filmmakers I trust to honestly tell me what needs to be improved, so I will consider this script a success if these readers come back excited about most or all of the characters, or if they can confidently share how they imagine these characters might exist outside of the story I have written down. I may also consider this a success if any of my readers come back with no notes at all.
