There are two goals to this project. The first is to facilitate a Native musician to create two pieces of music, one for high school and one for middle school bands. The final product will be delivered to band directors in the consortium no later than September 4th, 2023. The Consortium for Native American Composers anticipates at least twenty-five schools joining the consortium. The second goal is to have the pieces become established in the broader band world by encouraging multiple schools to perform it in their communities. The Consortium will encourage at least five member schools to premiere the pieces during the school year. When the Consortium for Native American Composers distributes the completed music no later than September 4th of 2023, the first goal will be met. The consortium will meet the second goal when twenty-five schools join and at least five of those schools perform the piece during the 2023-2024 school year.
