Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Our goal is create a compelling and engaging learning experience that will encourage students to want to study instrumental music when they have an opportunity to join band or orchestra at the appropriate time. These are measurable outcomes: ? Students will understand and experience music as a form of personal and artistic expression. ? Students will understand that music connects people across cultures and time periods. ? Students will seriously consider the study of instrumental music. ? Students will learn concert etiquette and be prepared to attend the MSO concert in March We will judge student engagement through direct observation of the students during the presentation, and through a questionnaire that students will complete. During the last five minutes of the presentation, we will ask students two or three simple questions, and have them write down or draw their responses. Student surveys will be collected after the presentation and an additional survey will be sent for teacher feedback the day after the presentation. After all surveys are collected, will review them to see if the outcomes are being met, or if adjustments need to be made to the lesson plan to achieve them.
