Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The residency goals are that students will be able to perform basic hand drum techniques; experiment with specific percussion instruments, learning names, applications and techniques; celebrate cultures through music; apply gained knowledge through ensemble performance; and respect cultural origins - a key to learning cultural art forms. Our students will learn about the rich history and artistic contributions that people of other cultures have brought to America. The residency will challenge the students to be active listeners. The students will be able to discuss what they heard, how music works, and how it felt to be in the presence of "live" professional musicians. This residency will help showcase that music is and can be a life-long journey for all. Measurable outcomes may be collected by survey, anecdotal responses, exit tickets, and observations. Before leaving their instructional sessions during the day, the music teacher will have the students use a graphic organizer to see what the students took away from the presentation. The students will answer the 3 questions before they leave the end of the class: 1) Name 3 things you learned today, 2) List 2 things you really enjoyed, and 3) ask one question about today's presentation
