Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

I intend to reinstitute routine practice and study of my traditional Dakota arts by selecting a tribal master artist to enhance application of traditional techniques in the mediums of quillwork and beadwork. I want to nurture the opportunity to connect to established artists, teaching styles and artistries that reflect the avenue in which I envision enhancing my own artistry. I would also like to explore ways in which artists have found success in promoting themselves, e.g. social media, websites, exhibits, wacipi, craft shows. I plan to create (up to 6) new traditional Dakota art creations to expand upon my emerging artist portfolio. I hope to draw inspiration for my project creations by exploring historic Dakota art collections. I will achieve my goals by reviving my connection to Dakota arts practices. My creations would reflect the tutelage and inspiration gained from working with selected tribal artists and time in the historic Dakota collections. I would like the creations to represent an infusion of traditional Dakota artistry and modern utility. I hope to inspire other emerging artists to redefine how they access knowledge and inspiration for their work.
