$5,000,000 the first year is for soil and water conservation districts for cost-sharing contracts with landowners or authorized agents to implement riparian buffers or alternative practices on public waters or public ditches consistent with Minnesota Statutes, section 103F.48. Of this amount, up to $2,500,000 may be targeted outside the 54-county Conservation Reserve Enhancement Area.
This grant program provided funding and assistance for buffer law implementation. Eligible activities include assistance to support drainage system mapping and map review, landowner outreach, landowner technical and financial assistance, equipment purchases, and other buffer law implementation activities. Funds for 0.09 FTEs have been proposed within the work plan.
