Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The completion of this project will benefit not only the residents of Cook County (specifically Grand Marais, Grand Portage) but will also will be used an an educational resource for those interested in Ojibwe star teachings and storytellings. Over the past several months I have been invited to share the collection of Following my Spirit Home throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin, and in tribal communities (Fond Du Lac, Grand Portage, Red Cliff, and Bad River); which now has established a foundation for continued exhibition and storytelling community events when this new body of paintings is completed. With this new collection of work, I will be celebrating Ojibwe teachings and language and sharing with additional rural communities. Community events have already been confirmed for October 2023 at Chik Wauk Center and November / December 2023 in Grand Marais and Grand Portage. The primary goal of this grant project is to complete a collection of paintings and stories that follow in the Ojibwe cultural tradition of storytelling in English and Ojibwemowin to celebrate the visual and cultural richness of Ojibwe sky teachings while also preserving these stories in Ojibwemowin for future generations leading to increased opportunities to share the collection and stories within Giiwedino-Manidoog / Spirits of the North. There will be a number of community events in Grand Marais, Grand Portage and Cook County during the Fall and Winter of 2023. Successful completion of previous ARAC and MSAB grant funded projects and activities. The FY2021 Individual Artist Project Grant "Following My Spirit - Publication and Community Reads of a Collection of Ojibwe North Shore Paintings and Stories was successful both in printing the final collection paintings but led to a number of community events throughout the state meeting the grant outcomes / goals. The completion of the grant project has led to a community interest in my completing a new collection of work building upon my most public art projects. The completion and exhibition of the collection of Giiwedino-Manidoog / Spirits of the North along with increased regional activities in Cook County will be the primary measure of success in achieving the grant funded project. Measures of success, 1. Completion of collection, 2. All stories will be available in English and Oijbwemowin, 3. Participation at community based events to discuss the works, share stories, distribution of language and art activities for children, 4. Increase regional visibility will be measured by audience participation at scheduled community events, 5. Increase of 20% of followers and subscribers to my two social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram: CraneSuperior)
