Students will participate in six weeks of engaging fine arts and performing arts experiences. We seek to attain the following: 1) 70% of children say they met an adult who cares about them 2) 70% of children say that they learned to get along better with others 3) 70% of children believe that theater and art has helped them to connect to the community 4) 70% of children expanded their vocabulary by the end of the session. The first three indicate progress toward one of the long-term impacts that the Collaborative seeks to have: all students experience well-being and resilience and are safe, valued, and connected. The fourth is an indicator of academic success and our long-term impact goal: all students graduate ready for college, careers, and citizenship. Outcomes listed above will be measured through pre-post assessments and progress toward individual goals identified in 1:1 goals-setting meetings. Program participants, their families, staff, and audience members will be surveyed to gauge the impact of the project, and gain insight into their experiences as well as suggestions for future performing arts programs. Art terminology will be intentionally incorporated in instruction. A pre and post quiz will be an objective assessment tool for this. Students will demonstrate growth in social-emotional skills integral to performance (e.g. focus, teamwork, preparedness). This will be determined in the pre and post surveys and meetings with students and families.
