Arts and Cultural Heritage

Project Details

They will provide summer dance programs including modern/contemporary, pre-pointe, ballet, boys hip hop, boys tap/jazz, themed camps, improv, and technique classes; and offer free camps for children to try dance. Funds will be used for studio rent.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The number of Minnesotans who are able to participate in the arts increases. The quality, types and number of arts opportunities in our region, and the organizations or venues that offer them increases. Real or perceived barriers to arts participation and arts access are identified and addressed. New relationships with members of groups that have traditionally been underserved by the arts or by the applicant organization are built. The number of Minnesotans who are engaged in arts education and learning opportunities increases. The quality and types of arts education and learning opportunities in our region, and the organizations or venues that offer them increases. Real or perceived barriers to arts learning are identified and addressed. The number of Minnesotans who participate in arts festivals and folk and traditional activities increases. The variety and number of festivals and traditional arts activities in our region/state increases. Parents and students will be surveyed. We believe that the majority of those surveyed will say they have had a positive experience. Up to 300 students will be affected in addition to staff members. Measurable Outcome(s)

We conducted the surveys and tabulated the results. We learned that we are mostly reaching our core demographic, 18-24-year-old Blue Earth County Residents, meaning mostly students at Minnesota State University, Mankato. We will work harder to expand that audience to community members and older people as well by advertising to those demographics through the library or Vine Community Center. Seventy-seven percent of our attendees are W. I'd like to work harder at reaching a more diverse population as well.
