Music of our Hearland: (The Concertina): a one-day musical program of music, folk dancing and story sharing focused on the importance of the concertina to the regional history and development of rural Stearns County.

Goals: More than 80% of participants identified as older adults and/or rural residents, Feedback extrapolation supports that a majority of participants developed a clearer sense of how local ethnic folk music impacts culture and history and a majority of attendees were motivated to preserve and share their cultural heritage. Evaluation methods: interviews, conversations, observations, surveys, . ; Our measurable outcomes for participants participating in this folk art program series are: Arts access: at least 80% of participants will identify as older adults, rural residents and students who are under-served and have limited access to arts programming. Arts learning: more than 150 residents of rural northeast Stearns County will develop a clearer sense of how local ethnic folk music impacted their culture and history and how they can help preserve it. At least 50% of participants will share through interviews and surveys that these programs motivated them to help preserve and share their cultural heritage. Community: Through interviews and conversations we will learn how the program helped build connections between numerous communities in the region by highlighting the commonalities in cultural heritage based on the region's colorful folk-art history. We will interview and interact with attendees to gauge their reaction to the events. We will intentionally observe both verbal and non-verbal comments and messages of appreciation. We will take photos at the event to help observe reactions. We will track attendance by gathering the names of those who attend the event. We will conduct one-on-one surveys of a representative number of participants in the program series. These surveys will gather information on what aspects of the program they valued the most and how we can improve and expand future arts programming. We will review this information and use it to help us determine future opportunities for offering arts programming within the community
