Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

By offering a theatre program for younger kids we hope to create a passion for the performing arts from a young age. We expect that participating in the project will help the students gain more confidence to audition for future productions at the school, in the community and try other public performance activities. We expect that this program will build confidence in general, build community, teamwork skills and give students a new outlet for expression. We will be putting up a poster that the participants will create. Participants will draw and write down all the things that they have learned, enjoyed and love about being a part of a theatrical production. Photos will be taken of the students (with permission) throughout the rehearsal process and during final dress rehearsal. These photos will be shared with the families and archived. Students will be able to see the photos and reflect on the process and being a part of a theatrical production. An evaluation tool will be given/administered to parents on first and last day of program via hard copy or google form.

Measurable Outcome(s)

The trip was a success! The goal was for students to get a hands-on experience with local and Native American history, art, traditions, and ways of life. Students were able to attend the Pipestone National Monument, Fort Pipestone, and the Pipestone County Museum. We viewed Native American art and were even able to watch the pipestone being carved by people belonging to local tribes. They explained how the pipestone was sacred and how they would use it to decorate their items and create various types of art with it. Students were even given the opportunity to purchase various pieces of art -- which many of them did. Numerous students have spoken about their enjoyment of the trip and the things that they saw and did. It is very evident that they enjoyed their time and came away with something new.
