Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

This project is important because it gives students, especially our younger students, the opportunity to try out theater/drama. We really want to keep this positive spirit and momentum going from last year for this important aspect of the arts. Those that take part take home a love for theater and encourage their friends to do that same. This is not only on stage themselves but encourages them to look at shows they watch themselves in a new perspective. We are creating life long lovers of theater and these students will consider taking part in our high school musicals when they get older. We hope to see a growth in our programs as a result of these productions. We plan to measure success based off of community verbal feedback and participant and parent surveys. This will tell us what went well, what needs to be improved, and how this has affected the students' view on participating in theater in upcoming years. We will also look for the growth in our middle school productions. Once we have established an interest in students through this week long experience we are hopeful that students will be more willing to commit to a full show with our drama department. Many of our participants are middle school age so we should be able to see this impact within the fall season.

Measurable Outcome(s)

We were extremely pleased with the turnout and the performance. The kids seemed happy and that they enjoyed it enough to want to do something like this again. Their confidence grew and it was observed that new friendships were made. The interns did a great job helping as well and seemed to get a lot out of the opportunity. The community thanked community education and the artist numerous times for the opportunity. Many students that participated in this production signed up for theatre workshops in May because they enjoyed this one so much. Community Education feels that it is important to continue including the arts in our programming through a yearly show and theatre classes and continue offering other arts activities as well.
