ACHF Arts Access
This project will allow me to establish a more consistent studio practice. By having regular access to a studio with an operating kiln, I will be able to create a routine when it comes to making work and will have the ability to explore ideas faster and develop my personal aesthetic and techniques. By regularly working with clay, my skills will develop faster and I will continue to utilize the knowledge I have gained in the past. I plan to measure my success by meeting the deadlines I have set for myself and ending the project timeline with a developed, polished, and cohesive body of work that expresses my concepts in a well-crafted manner. I will use a sketchbook to record progress and thoughts and track the development of my ideas. I will also ask for feedback from peers, and will compare the new work with my old work. By seeing progress in these areas, I will be able to prove that changes have taken place.
Working with other artists provided an opportunity to bring in a new dimension in my art practice. By learning to sew on paper, Jennifer and I quickly adapted to working together and found a variety of ways to blend and exemplify the mediums. This work heightens understanding of process and production through shared learning in a way that multiplies the sum of parts. Sally Power and Bridget O'Malley added to our understanding of pulp, water, elements of design, and bringing together cross disciplines. The project added meaning and appreciation for broadening the EcoAts studio use as a maker space and possibly lead to turning the studio into a regional Folk School. Since beginning the collaboration, Jennifer and I have exhibited our work in the 2022 Ortonville Art Crawl and the Meander.
