Due to the extremely labor intensive nature of this project and the sharp decline in income I've experienced as a working artist during the pandemic, I no longer have adequate time to continue my field recording and performance practice. If funded, this grant will allow me the time and income to be able to resume this work and continue to make it freely available online through YouTube, Vimeo, Bandcamp, and Instagram. This will sustain my practice by guaranteeing the financial viability of this project, which I would otherwise be either unable to complete. Furthermore, the flexibility provided by this grant would allow me to experiment with my sound and push forward the complexity of my compositions. You may be confident in my ability to execute this project as I have worked and thrived within the discipline of recorded sound for many years and have participated in the production and completion of a wide variety of projects, including work on over 30 albums. Though the visual component of this work is a more recent part of my practice, I have demonstrated through my first six published works of audio-visual field recording my ability to independently produce and deliver complex multimedia work on a consistent timeline. Additionally, my earlier work demonstrates a clear, unified vision and aesthetic which I intend to carry forward into my proposed project, if funded. Finally, this grant represents a substantial step forward in terms of the time and resources to which I've had access in my independent experimental practice. This could allow me to streamline my process and more deeply focus upon and engage with this project. I would consider myself successful if I am able to compose, record, edit, and release six new videos within the proposed timeline and maintain a consistent release schedule. Furthermore, I will assess this goal based on my adherence to the 61 hours of work that I have budgeted. Adherence to this limit of work hours allows me to pay myself a living wage, sustain my work, and continue my artistic exploration.
