I am looking forward to working on art creating something that I have not seen anywhere and have to produce strictly from my mind. I can research the individual mediums, but to put all three together will take research and experimentation with both the medium and the picture plane. I feel with the thought I have already put into this project that I could find my own niche in artwork after having to generalize so many years as a junior and high school art teacher. I want to go from learning to do many types of art and learning a little about each one that I could learn to do something I can specialize in that I won't see in every art store or magazine. I not only want to create my own style, I want to create my own medium. I would like to create feedback with a photographic electronic journal of my wanderings and experimentations through this process. I would like to show the wayward problems as well as the accomplishments. I would also like to display finished works at the Madison Mercantile, which is a new development in Madison, MN. I will compare new work to old work and look for a new depth of work. I would also like to photo journal the process, how it looks in different stages and comparing different results in the experimentation process.
I became empowered as a professional Native American artist with my own art studio. I fully engaged in my dream of cultural preservation through the artwork I produced, and this became a reality. The inspiration, confidence, and belief within myself as a Native American artist began to grow within me upon the receipt of this grant. I was able to purchase supplies such as a variety of hides (deer and buffalo), traditional trade beads of all varieties (glass and metal), and any other items needed. The artwork I produced landed me gallery representation in Norman, Oklahoma. I am also in a 2023 Native American calendar as a featured artist from Minnesota. One of my pieces was in an art collector magazine. My artwork has been purchased throughout the United States and gained attention in England.
