Outcome #3: Classes and workshops offered in the media lab will explore the intersection of art and technology, based on community needs and interests as DoPT continues to hear community voices with equity, support practicing artists, and develop creative solutions through arts and cultural offerings and events. DoPT and local residents will have a space to offer or participate in high quality artistic and mixed-media experiences for an intergenerational audience. Outcome #7: The media projects will deliberately engage artists from underrepresented demographics and non-traditional arts audiences, highlighting the viability of arts as drivers of economic, social, and community wellness in rural towns. The immediate effect will be felt by residents and businesses in Granite Falls and nearby towns, as the YES! House becomes a hub for cultural activity in our region. From the beginning of this YES! House process, we have been documenting our approach, our collaborations, our successes, and our failures, so we have a well-established starting point to which we frequently compare our progress. Evaluator Rachel Engh's support in survey design helps us evaluate the skills gained by program participants and areas for improvement and future growth. Our organization is committed to documentation and evaluation - including surveys (qualitative and quantitative) and participatory evaluation strategies at all of our events. We will continue this practice at the YES! House, especially as it relates to sharing our findings and impact of the Media Lab and Maker Space offerings with the broader region and field.
We completed the project reasonably around budget, despite price increases due to COVID-19. We were able to purchase all the necessary equipment and furniture for the Media Lab & Maker Space, and we look forward to utilizing the equipment when we are able to complete the build-out of the space (delayed due to COVID-19, but still on track for completion.) We were able to work with knowledgeable consultants to secure the correct equipment for the space. We have continued construction, and we are currently on track for construction completion in 2023. Once we are able to install and use the equipment, we anticipate that our reach and impact will grow through the dynamic and diverse arts programming we?ll be able to offer.
