As a full-time working artist, the GOAL of this project is to provide myself with a 2 - month salary, funding the creation of (4) new sculptures. The sculptures will be exhibited publicly in March 2021 with the secondary goal of sustaining myself through potential purchases of the work. As my resume and images indicate, I have successfully dedicated myself to a studio practice that has a proven track record of public commissions, grant awards, and teaching opportunities. Every aspect of my studio practice is self driven- thus I am experienced in following through with a project and seeing it through completion. Specific to this Grant, I have intentionally chosen January and February to focus on the small personal series, as this is the quiet time of year for my public commission projects as that aspect of my studio will ramp up again in April 2021. Additionally, I have done the homework of securing the storefront for a month, and have chosen a manageable series of (4) 36" x 18" works to create in 4 weeks. The success of No Vacancy will be measured in bringing to fruition (4) new works with the secondary measure of success through potential sales. Generating a visible presence of my studio practice with a publicly accessible, North Shore Highway 61 exhibit supports my goal of exposing to the public my "personal" work. While I am recognized as a credible public sculptor, sharing my personal work is measured through the pro-active role of initiating this 4 week exhibition in a public space. My contact with Visit Cook County records indicated that 1,000,000 to 1,300,000 visitors travel the North Shore Highway 61 route each year. The window will include my studio contact information for public feedback and response from those visitors.
- I exceeded my goal of creating (4) relief panels, by creating (6) for the exhibition - While I have had soe inquiry , unfortunately to date, I did not have any sales of work which is / was a goal
