As a result of this funding, canoe artist apprentices will experience increased knowledge in building birch bark canoes through the Birch Bark Canoe Building Apprenticeship Project. They will understand what to look for when harvesting materials, how to properly and sustainably harvest materials, what tools to use, and how to work with harvested materials. Evaluation methods include creative journaling, administered during the canoe build and at the conclusion of the canoe build, to measure increased knowledge and skills gained by canoe artist apprentices.
