As a result of this program 4 team members ( 2 high functioning elders and 2 youth middle/ high school ) who have high interest in being part of 5 teams will design , become privy to art process, and learn direct skills ( welding, use of plasma torch, woodworking or those skills needed) to create a functional art bench. Using a pre and post survey 0-5 Likert Scale there will be at the minimum a 50% growth in skill development from the start to completion of the cohorts' learning. Evaluation methods include a Likert Scale 0-5 Pre and Post Survey with a choice of Poll Everywhere App or paper copy administered on the day the cohort begins and the day it ends ( there are 2 sessions ) to measure 50% growth in skill improvement in both creative design concepts and pragmatic skills needed to create the sculpture. The target audience is youth selected to work with these master artists. We are aiming to not just teach practical skills needed but process.
