MM hopes to engage a large part of the entire community in a uniquely enjoyable concert performance and learning opportunity where both passive concert audiences and active student participants can have a great classical music experience and gain valuable knowledge about brass and percussion performance. Students actively participating in the outreach by rehearsing and coaching with the DB will gain critical insights into performance technique and musical discipline. Measurable outcomes will include attendance at these events. Ordean Middle School outreach: Over 1100 students / adults at the all school assembly; 260+ students /instructors at the band coaching session UMD outreach: 50-75 students participating; twenty faculty/community attending East High School outreach: 90+ young performers, plus parents faculty The Dallas Brass concert performance with attendance of at least 300 people Also, positive feedback from students participating in the outreach and concert patrons. Quantitative outcomes will be measured through overall ticket sales and attendance at the DB concert. For the outreach events, student, faculty and community attendance will be monitored. MM will also note the levels of social media traffic leading up to the outreach and concert events. The qualitative success of the project will be assessed through audience reaction, direct comments during and after the concert, word of mouth feedback, media notices, online comments, etc. Also MM will conduct surveys with students and teachers to gather information about the effectiveness and quality of the outreach events.
