$5,846,000 in fiscal year 2020 and $7,004,000 in fiscal year 2021 are for statewide historic and cultural grants to local, county, regional, or other historical or cultural organizations or for activities to preserve significant historic and cultural resources. Money must be distributed through a competitive grant process. The Minnesota Historical Society must administer the money using established grant mechanisms, with assistance from the advisory committee created under Laws 2009, chapter 172, article 4, section 2, subdivision 4, paragraph (b), item (ii).

I believe our target goals were achieved for the three categories.
Short Term: The security system was installed during the museum?s closed season in order to train staff and volunteers on the system to ensure they are confident in using the system if they are there alone. They are now better aware when people come in the front or back door (when the doors open it makes a bell noise) which gives staff and volunteers a better level of comfort.
Intermediate and Long Term: Intermediate Term/Long Term: We announced in our annual fund drive letter, which was mailed at the end of 2019, that we had applied for a grant to ?update our security system.? In our spring newsletter, which is currently in process, we have noted that we received a grant to install the system. Signs were also posted at both entrances and on the Annex building, that the buildings were secured by Per Mar Security System. Our annual meeting, which had been scheduled April 26th, has since been postponed. During that we had intended to share with everyone that we had security cameras and an updated burglar system. Once we have the chance to hold our meeting, we intend to have this discussion with our members. Our weekly newspaper articles begin in May. Our first article will cover what the museum did during the winter (which will include the security system installation). As this is a small town, people will drive by, check out what's going on, and then find me in town later and ask questions. So far, the responses I've had with personal discussions with community members have been quite positive. They view it as an added sense of care for items they have donated over the years.
