Project Details

Poet, Yuko Taniguchi, will provide a creative writing and origami program for psychiatric nurses at Mayo Clinic to develop a sustainable educational model for engaging and aiding in healing adolescents with mental health challenges.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The creative writing experiences will help prepare the psychiatric nurses to share the power of writing with the adolescents with mental illness. We will evaluate the nurses' readiness for facilitating creative writing sessions at the end of the project period. Their self-view as writers will be evaluated by a pre- and post-surveys before and after the fifteen sessions.

Measurable Outcome(s)

The staff can integrate the creative writing method to lead group sessions for adolescents with mental illness. We have evaluated the nurses' experience from facilitating creativity based activities at the end of the project period. Their self-view as creative facilitators were documented through post-surveys after the fifteen sessions.
