The Lower Sioux Indian Community will sustain the Dakota tradition of pottery by contracting with master artists to train apprentices in the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary to become independent pottery teachers.

Up to ten Teaching Apprentices will be trained by Master Artists to become pottery teachers. Number of pottery teachers certified by Lower Sioux; assess changes in skills, knowledge, and attitudes; dialogue and feedback through focus groups and interviews; training logs signed by Master Artist to track completion of teaching hours. 2: Native learners of all ages at Lower Sioux will gain knowledge about and an introduction to pottery. Observe classes lead by teaching apprentices; assess changes in skills, knowledge, and attitudes; dialogue and feedback through surveys and interviews; maintain program records tracking attendance, number of classes held, number of art pieces created.
Priscilla will become a master. She learned about mixing clay, throwing clay, centering, pulling walls, shaping clay, scratch work, trimming, how to use the tools, coiling, firing, glazing, painting, meanings of symbols.
