Project Details

Taous Khazem and theater artists will work with students in grades one through five at L'Etoile du Nord French Immersion on "Ecouter! Collaborer! Jouer!" an original play based on a folktale from North Africa with French speaking teaching artists.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Learners will create a play based on a folktale from North Africa deepening their appreciation of cultures. Learners will be given a grade appropriate pre and post-residency survey developed with the teaching artist, classroom teachers and a professional evaluator using the state standards for the theater arts as a guide. 2: Learners will gain confidence in their French speaking skills. Learners will be evaluated by classroom teachers through coursework outside of residency hours.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Learners will create a play based on a folktale from North Africa deepening their appreciation of cultures. Learners in the 4th grade were given a post-residency survey. All learners reflected verbally on what they learned during each session. All teachers were given a post-residency survey. 2: Learners will gain confidence in their French speaking skills. Classroom teachers evaluated students growth of French vocabulary and noted it in a post-residency survey created by our evaluator.
